In response to Mr. Meir Shnietzer venomous critics on the movie “Raglaim-Karot” (Cold Feet)
The movie Cold Feet (Raglaaim Karot) is an extremely sensitive story based on the book “Wedding” (Chatuna) by one of Hebrew’s more brilliant authors Uri Adleman.
The follow very closely the book and it is no doubt a gem of a literature piece. It deals with issues that are very prevalent for people before they get married – (women and men), fears of the out come and their need to identify the roll they are playing in the relationships. These issues are apparently removed by now from Meir sphere of understanding.
As for his complain about the technical quality of the movie. Yes this movie was filmed as a video film. However it was filmed with the most professional equipment on the market and one of the better cinematographers in Israel (Claudio Shterenberg) behind the camera. The video material was blown up by one of the best Studios in London (Bucks) for this purpose. The over all classic old style atmosphere of the movie was purposely designed to create a warm feeling for the story, warmth that is missing from many Glitzy currently produced films. It does not have to adhere to Meir taste – but does not qualify him to spit his venom.
As for attacking the Israeli Film Fund, I suggest that if the honorable Mr. Critic thinks he is a better-qualified person to choose s he should offer his services in choosing s before hand instead of blowing his venom after.
For a Fair Disclosure, the writer of this response is the investor who discovered this special Israeli movie that does not deals with Wars, Holocaust or Arab Terrorists. As a person who lived most of his life in USA I believe that this movie has a huge market outside the little mud pond where Mr. Shnitzer spends his life.
Reading his critics I cannot stop the thought in my mind that the urine climbed Mr. Shnitzer’s head and probably for many years. Yes he is entitled to say any thing he thinks, but the words are the one that reveal his arrogant attitude.
Maybe his old age and taste just disqualify him from criticizing outstanding and different style movies. Remember those who cannot understand surrealists painters despise even today Picasso. Or may be he just was insulated for not being invited to watch the movie for free.
