Well.. reading all the comments here.. from many jews, Muslims. left/right parties.. impressive..
For those who see Darweesh as a terrorist.. i think you should wish Hamas turn like him..would be great.. Imagine a terrorist writer, that I call a sweet terrorist then.. a terrorist that doesnt hurt no person. no blood involved.. isnt that great..
Poeple, you have to understand, Paletinians and Israeli been fighting now for ages.. what did change.. NOTHING.. how sad, those who fight, they die and dont even know who wins.. they die and they dont see how many really did love them..
Darweesh is a symbol of peaceful wars.. he fought and encourged his nation to fight by words.. legal ways.. emotions, feeling etc...
To my israeli fellows.. Hamas is aweful as much as the Israeli leaders who call for wars..
I wish we had so much writers from both sides who could show us thier real love for our holy land, those are really the one who care about this land, the holy land..
Look at what hamas and israel gov. doing.. sheddin blood in all of us holy land..

I can give you thousands of example living today in Israel, arab israeli with mindset exactly the same as urs.. wake up everyday live it to the maximum.
Look, history shows ofcourse aweful things abt Islam, I mean, did u think without blood and power would islam be so big. Christianity, and Jodisim have also a bloody history.. all the same.. but presented differently.
I dont want to talk with you about yesterday,, lets talk present and tomorrow. Believe me, many many arab Israel and palestinian youth would love to share thier dreams with you.
One thing for sure.. the agression in palestine and israel is due to fear,.. fear for the unknown.. thats ACCEPTANCE.

Now back to your stupidity, he is a symbol for many palestinians, but a also for the israeli.. why.. he is a writer, he fought in a very educated way.. no blood and no killing as the Hamas or Israeli forces.. the latter two been fighting since forever.. and yet nothing has changed.. imagine we stop all killing and start writing.. educating our kids on handeling political/national issues by law and writings.. wouldnt that be better..

Kamal, from my computer in Tel Aviv I definitely agree with your idea. We should stop killing each other, and educate our kids to be familiar with our great writers - we Israelis should read Mahmoud Darwish, Ghassan Kanafani and other leading Palestinian writers, and Palestinian children should read Yehuda Amichai, Amos Oz and David Grossman.
In the print edition of Ma'ariv writer A.B. Yehoshua wrote a very moving eulogy to Darwish. He didn't agree with everything that Darwish said and wrote, but he respected him. And that's the way it should be.-
