Youre 100% correct the Republican party of today that is known at the GOP was founded in 1849 in Jackson, Michigan. With regards to John Adams he was part of the Federalist party. John Adams was in my opinion the real founder of the United States, he just asked Thomas Jefferson to write the Declaration of Independence because of Jefferson's ability to write in a more lighter philosophical way.
